Appointed by South Dublin County Council to design a series of prototypical three bedroom duplex housing units of 98 m.sq. which met or surpassed all the requirements of the depart of Environment standards as well as lifetime housing best practice. These experimental units were to be constructed utilising the latest timber frame technology with exceptionally high levels of insulation and energy efficiency as well as being constructed of sustainable materials of proven durability and ease of maintenance.
In the particular application at Tymon Park, the units are constructed as caretakers apartments over a raised platform of random rubble stone containing parks departments offices and public display facility. This reformatting of a traditional Irish "Tower House" was designed to respond to the isolated location deep withing the parkland and trees at Tymon Park. Large Oriel window seats provide vistas over the trees surrounding the structure.
